Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Pool Map (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Pool Map mobile application and when you visit poolmap.live (the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Pool Map, we may collect:

• Account information — such as your name, username, email address, and optional profile details you provide when you create an account or sign in.
• Location information — with your permission, we use your device’s location to show nearby pools on the map and to place a pin when you add a pool from your current location. Location is used while the app is in use; we do not track your location in the background unless a future feature explicitly asks for that permission.
• Content you submit — pool listings, descriptions, ratings, reviews, saved favorites, and similar information you choose to share in the app.
• Device and usage information — basic technical data such as app version, device type, and general interaction with features, which helps us keep the app reliable and secure.
• Website analytics — on poolmap.live, we use privacy-focused web analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic to the marketing site. This does not apply the same way inside the native mobile app.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Pool Map app and website;
• Display pools, maps, listings, and community features you request;
• Show community leaderboards (such as Top Spotters) using a shortened form of the name from your account — typically your first name and the first letter of your last name (for example, “Andre A.”) — rather than your full name or account ID;
• Create and manage your account and saved pools;
• Respond to support requests and enforce our terms;
• Protect against abuse, fraud, and security issues;
• Comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these situations:

• Service providers — hosting, analytics, and infrastructure partners that help us run the app and website (for example, cloud hosting and Vercel for the marketing site), subject to appropriate safeguards.
• Public content — information you choose to make public in the app (such as pool submissions or reviews) may be visible to other users. When you add pools while signed in, other users may see your abbreviated name on in-app leaderboards as described above; we do not display your full last name or email on those lists.
• Legal requirements — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Pool Map, our users, or others.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required by law.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see below).

Your choices

• Location — you can disable location access for Pool Map in your device settings. Some features (such as nearby pools or adding a pool at your current location) will not work without it.
• Account — you may update profile information in the app or contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your account data, subject to applicable law.

Children’s privacy

Pool Map is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Services after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
